Under his leadership, our society is poised for further growth. We sincerely appreciate your continued support for the development of the Norway-Japan Society.
Masahiro Tauchi,
Former President, Norway-Japan Society
Dear esteemed members,
I am Hiroshi Kawamura, who was appointed as the new president in May, following the resignation of President Tauchi. I look forward to working with you.
Until February of this year, I served as the Japanese ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway for three years and three months, working there to strengthen relations between the two countries. In December of last year, Norwegian Prime Minister STØRE visited Japan and held talks with Prime Minister KISHIDA, and the two leaders issued the Joint Statement, elevating Japan-Norway relations to a strategic partnership. Concrete cooperation included in the statement will be steadily implemented at the government level.
Since 1979, NJS has been carrying out various activities aimed at promoting friendship and mutual understanding between the people of Japan and Norway and cultural exchange. It is a great honor for me to serve as the president of such a historic Society, and I would like to express my respect for the efforts of all members to date.
As the new president, based on the NJS’s past activities, with your continued and precious support, I would like to carry out activities that will lead to further deepening understanding between the people of both countries. I reiterate my wish to work closely with you.
Hiroshi Kawamura
