3 月8 日は国際女性デーでしたが、これに合わせ英誌エコノミストは主要29 か国における２０２２年の女性の働きやすさランキングを発表しました。トップ４を北欧の国々が独占し、ノルウェーは４位でした。驚くことに日本はワースト２位，韓国は最下位でした。エコノミストは、日韓について、「女性がいまだ家庭かキャリアかを選択しなければならない」と指摘しています。
そういえば、イプセンが書いた「人形の家」のノーラは、夫ヘルメルに「おまえは何よりまず妻で，母親だ。」と言われ、「わたしは何よりもまず人間よ。」と言って家を出ます。ノルウェーでは１９世紀末に既に一人の人間であることに覚醒した女性がいました。それから１４０年以上が経過し女性の働きやすさトップグループにノルウェーはランクインしています。
講師のアンネ・ランデ・ペータースさんは演劇研究家・翻訳家 日本で生まれ宣教師の親とともに日本とノルウェーを行き来して育ちました。私は元東海大学教授の森信嘉先生からご紹介されてアンネさんを知りましたが、彼女の妹さんがオスロの日本大使館で文化広報の仕事をしているリブさんと知り世界は狭いものと大変驚きました。日本・ノルウェー両国の事情にくわしいアンネさんに両国における女性の社会進出について聞いてみましょ
う。

On the occasion of International Women's Day on March 8, the British magazine The Economist released its 2022 ranking of 29 major countries on the working environment for women. The top four were dominated by Nordic countries, with Norway in fourth place. Sadly, Japan ranked second to last, and South Korea was at the bottom. The magazine indicated that "women must still choose between a family or a career" in Japan and South Korea.
Speaking of which, in A Doll's House written by Ibsen, when her husband Helmer says to her, "First and foremost you are a wife and mother," Nora claims, "I am first and foremost a human being," and leaves home. In Norway, there was a woman who had already awakened to her humanness at the end of the 19th century. More than 140 years later, Norway ranks among the best countries for women to work.
The lecturer, Ms. Anne Lande Peters, is a theater researcher and translator. She was born in Japan and grew up traveling back and forth between Japan and Norway with her missionary parents. I was introduced to Anne-san by Dr. Nobuyoshi Mori, a former professor at Tokai University. Only then did I learn that her younger sister was Lande Liv-san, who worked in culture and public relations at the Embassy of Japan in Oslo, and I was astonished the world was small. Let's ask Anne-san about women's social advancement in both Japan and Norway.
