Dear Members of the Norway-Japan Society,
We are delighted to invite you to our New Year’s party, which will be held on February 1st, 2024, at the Tokyo Daijingu Matsuya Salon.
The event will feature a variety of activities, including a greeting from the NJS President Mr. Masahiro Tauchi, a speech from the Ambassador from Norway to Japan, Ms. Kristin Iglum, a raffle with wonderful prizes, a choir performance by our own NJS choir, a violin recital by Ms. Shoko Oki, and not least a buffet dinner party.
We would like to introduce to you the NJS Board Member Mr. Michal Louis Berg, who is the main responsible for organizing the 2024 New Year Party.
"I remember joining the first NJS Shinnenkai New Year’s Party in 2009 when I did an internship at the Norwegian Embassy in Tokyo.
Everyone welcomed me warmly and I got to meet so many wonderful people who all had their interesting stories to tell
about their own connection to either Japan or Norway – or both.
Now I have been a NJS board member for almost 14 years, and I keep in touch with some of the people I met at my first NJS New Year’s Party.
For me as half Norwegian and Japanese, and now with my own children, I find it important to volunteer to maintain and develop such a meeting place for all the people that make up the friendship and positive exchange between Norway and Japan.
What I am personally glad to see is that during the last year, we are gradually seeing more younger members join our events. This gives me so much pleasure, energy, and hope for an active NJS going forward!
I am so thankful for all the members, secretariat and board members that comes together to organize and run the events we do. We hope you will enjoy the 2024 Shinnenkai!”
